Happy Sunday. Today, I’ve pulled a few recipes from the archives to inspire your meals for the rest of the week.

Weekend Update
As always, the weekends seem to speed by! This weekend, I finally had a reason to wear this long orange dress I bought a year ago! We went to The Charleston in Baltimore. They just won a 2025 James Beard award, and despite living in Baltimore off-and-on since 2013, I’ve never been!
Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed. I really do NOT like complaining at restaurants, but I ordered a spaghetti alla chitarra with crab, and there were multiple bits of shells in it. Given the price point, I did feel like I needed to mention it, which always makes me feel a bit awkward. The maître d' apologized profusely and removed that course from our bill, which I was grateful for.
Overall, I am happy I tried it, given how it’s an institution here in the city, but I don’t think I’d be racing back. There wasn’t really any dish that wowed me, and it felt like more misses than hits. Maybe I’m just out of touch with fine dining, but I feel like once you get to a certain price point, it’s hard for me to justify it. I find myself becoming overly critical and captious. For me, there’s a sweet spot of reasonably priced, decently good food that I can overlook flaws here and there. But once it gets too expensive, I just become kind of insufferably nitpicky, lol! Does anyone else do that? Or maybe I just haven’t been to the right restaurants.
But regardless, I did have a good espresso martini to end the dinner!
I also made a really delicious banana nut chocolate upside-down cake! But I made the mistake of slicing the bananas lengthwise, which I thought would look nice. Unfortunately, when I flipped the cake, I found that the finished result was pretty unappetizing to look at (as you can see from my face). I just tested the recipe again using rounds instead of long slices, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out, so I can share the recipe with you! It’s SO delicious!
For now, let’s get you all some recipes to inspire your meals for the rest of the week.
FAVES FROM THE ARCHIVES
Shrimp & Tomatillo Corn Chowder
This is what I am making tonight, so I can reshoot the recipe, and I cannot wait! This shrimp and tomatillo corn chowder is spicy, tangy, and sweet, all wrapped up in a light and creamy shrimp stock.
Mushroom-Corn Chowder
Since we’re talking about chowder, this is one of my favorite summer-to-autumn transition recipes. So delicious!
Chicken with Coconut Curry Pumpkin
Can you tell I’ve got fall on my mind? This chicken with coconut curry pumpkin is loaded with spicy flavors, richness from coconut, and brightness from fresh herbs that make for a balanced and delicious dinner.
Dill-Panko Crusted Pork Chops
These crisp, crunchy dill and panko-crusted pork chops taste even better with zippy, mustardy potato salad.
Spicy Orange Chicken
Sweet, spicy, and sticky, this spicy orange chicken is my take on the classic Chinese-American dish.
Butternut Squash Orzo with Goat Cheese
This is such a gorgeous, autumnal pasta dish. It’s loaded with warming herbs like rosemary and sage and paired with cubed butternut squash.
Chicken and Chickpea Wraps
These chicken and chickpea wraps are always on rotation at my house. They're easy to make, super filling, and really delicious.
That’s it for this week! I hope everyone has a great week ahead filled with lots of tasty food. If you make one of my recipes, please drop a comment on the post to let me know how it turns out; I’d love to hear from you! Byeeeeee! 💖💖
