Midweek Meals
New recipes + reader faves 🌞
Happy Wednesday. Today, I have new recipes and reader faves to inspire your meal plans for the rest of the week.
Midweek Update
I’ve been cooking and baking so much this week (I’m holding my Tart Cherry Upside-Down Cake in the photo above)! I can’t believe I have three new recipes to share. I was hoping to have my Raspberry London Fog Tiramisu recipe ready for today’s newsletter, but I’ll be sharing that one on Sunday. Eek!
Yesterday, I did a fun happy hour at a local bar called Blooms. It’s situated in the beautiful Ulysses Hotel, and on Tuesdays they have a live jazz band. I went with a few friends and had a great espresso martini and cheese and shrimp cocktail. All the best things. On Friday, I’m going back to the Prime Rib—not really for the beef; I just want more of those giant oysters! They were SO good, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them.
OH, and today I got my Ooni Electric Pizza Oven! I’m going to get it set up this week so I can see how close I can get to a legitimate Neapolitan margherita pizza this weekend. Wish me luck!
Okay, I have a LOT of food to share today, so I’ll stop yapping and get right into it.
NEW RECIPES
Chicory Banana Upside-Down Cake
As I mentioned in my last newsletter, I wanted to make a rendition of my favorite dessert from Uchi. I’ve already made it twice (and I’ll be making it plenty more times as well). It’s warm, spiced, and the cake makes your entire house smell like Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Tart Cherry Upside-Down Cake
Tart cherries with nutty hazelnuts, a rich, buttery amaretto caramel, and dark chocolate make this upside-down cake a dessert that will wow your guests.
Baked BBQ Chicken Breasts
These baked BBQ chicken breasts are smothered with caramelized onions for a flavorful midweek meal you’ll want all the time. It’s easy to make–albeit a little time-consuming with the onions–but so worth the effort.
READER FAVES
Summer Pasta
Oh no! My heart BREAKS for you, but I’m glad you enjoyed what you got to try of it anyway! There’s nothing worse than sacrificing dinner to the ground. I feel like I should make this recipe again in your honor (or would that be rubbing it in, haha). If you’re craving summer, this pasta will transport you straight to a warm sunny evening (in your mind and mouth only; I can’t control the weather…yet).
Chicken with Creamy Fennel Broth
Thank you, Holly! I’m so thrilled this is a winner for you and your son! The gremolata really does taste amazing in that rich, aromatic broth. YUM.
Cheddar Chicken and Broccoli Orzo
Yay, thank you for this comment! So happy it was a winner. A double batch of this cheesy, comforting orzo is definitely the way to go!
Raspberry London Fog Upside-Down Cake
I’m so, so happy to hear that! I’m overjoyed that your wife felt fancy eating—we should have a dessert recipe in our back pocket that makes us feel like we’re eating in a 5-star restaurant!
Easy Lobster Noodles
Thank you, Marianne! An entrée that’s as easy as it is stunning, these lobster noodles are a dish you’d be thrilled to serve to guests.
Turkey Meatballs with White Beans
Thank you, Hannah! I’m glad you found this recipe easy! These juicy turkey meatballs with savory white beans make for a flavorful weeknight dinner you’ll want on regular rotation.
Whew! I’ve gotten so many wonderful comments this week that I can’t even fit them all in one newsletter! What a good “problem” to have! I’ll be sharing the rest in Sunday’s email, but please keep them coming! I absolutely love hearing how my recipes turn out for you. For now, though, that’s all for Midweek Meals! I hope everyone has a great rest of the week filled with lots of tasty food. Byeeeeeeee! 💖💖
