Happy Sunday. Today, I have a few recipes to inspire your meals for the rest of the week.

Weekend Update
We had a great time in Richmond! Before I left, I cooked a lot (I’ll share the recipe for the dish I’m holding in the photo on the left below!). The trip was primarily a short relaxation trip, and we stayed in the beautiful Jefferson Hotel. I enjoyed a massage, a facial, and afternoon tea for the first time!
I also ate a ton of their Black Forest cake, which I kept having sent to my room at, like, 11 PM. It was just so good, I couldn’t resist.
On Thursday, we had dinner at L’Opossum, which was just okay. I should have listened to one of the Substack commenters and gone to Lillie Pearl instead. We had a sort of deconstructed beef Wellington and a stewed chicken, but everything was a bit too salty and over-reduced to the point that it was bitter. The restaurant was nicely designed inside and had a really fun vibe and aesthetic, but it felt like a little more style over substance. Maybe it was just an off night; who knows! We still had fun, and my cocktail was fantastic!
On Friday, we went out for a Vietnamese dinner, which was SO good. Then I just ate lots of Black Forest cake, and now I want to try making one at home!
We got back yesterday, and I didn’t feel like cooking, so it was pizza to save the day! Today, I’m remaking my red velvet trifle so I can share the recipe with you all. The red velvet sponge cake is out of this world good! For dinner, I’m making my dill-panko pork chops again. I’ll share my recipe with you all soon!
For now, let’s get into some recipes for the week.
Creamy Shrimp and Gnocchi
This is a bit of a contentious recipe on my site–candidly, people seem to either love or hate this one! Regardless, the recipe did receive consistent feedback that the photo seemed a little off, and I was inclined to agree. I decided to make it again to reshoot it, and do another gut check to make sure I wasn’t off the rails because I developed this recipe several years ago. I loved it again, but I can see how people felt the photo wasn’t the best representation, so I’m glad to have a more accurate photo!
This shrimp and gnocchi is SO easy to make and creamy and rich, and all the good things. I spike the sauce with a nip of hot honey to give it a sweet, spicy finish.
Will you try it and let me know what you think? 😜
